Beauty Care: UNOM Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto Perfume Review

UNOM Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto Extrait de Parfum had a stronger, more citrus-leaning opening with warm spices, but it quickly turned dry, dusty, and leathery with tarry smoke. On my skin, it did not shift much from there, while the final drydown had soft suggestions of amber and tonka bean, but it was so muted and dominated by dry, dusty leather that not much else seemed to stand up to it. Here are the notes:

top notes: myrrh, galbanum, petitgrain, bergamot
heart notes: cinnamon, clary sage, styrax, geranium, ylang-ylang, cedar
base notes: incense, tobacco, benzoin, amber, tonka bean, sandalwood

It kicked off with a blast of bitter bergamot followed by dry, almost smoky, woods with subtle orange, cinnamon, and clove spices. There was a dustiness, almost like dry leather with smoky, gray swirls of tobacco. It was a harmony of well-blended spiced, lightly sweetened orange, the beginnings of a resinous base, and smoky, dry leather.

Over the first two hours, it shifted to drier, dustier, and heavy leather with smoke that smelled a little ashy with slightly soapy orange underneath. There was subtle creamy woods and a touch of vanilla that appeared after three hours of wear that gave it a gauzy feel. It continued in a linear manner with the orange sometimes being less soapy at times. It wasn’t until about five hours that there was a wisp of amber and tonka bean against the orange that removed all soapiness, but it was still quite leathery and dry.

Application

For testing, I used 1/3 of a 0.7ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise.

I purchased my sample in January 2022; fragrances are known to be reformulated over their lifetime , so be mindful of when a review was made, e.g. a review from 2010 may not reflect what the same-named perfume smells like in 2022.

Longevity

It lasted for five hours until it was a skin-scent and about eight hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate with the sillage dropping faster than the projection within the first hour of wear.

Personal Thoughts

Tarry, black smoke is definitely not a note that seems to work for me; I don’t know if my skin amplifies it as I feel like it can, but paired with drier leather, it left me desperate for all the other notes listed in the pyramid!
