Lancome Mademoiselle Penelope (353) L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick (2022) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium orange with reddish undertones and a matte finish. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and thin with a barely-there velvet glide, which helped it apply evenly and smoothly to my lips without catching on imperfections. It had rich color payoff that lasted well for five hours and felt neither drying nor hydrating.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to deliver "intense bold color in one swipe" with a "vibrant and matte finish." The texture is firmer, slightly denser and stiffer, though not to the point where it dragged or became painful to apply. I found that the added stiffness made it easier to get a more precise edge when working with the formula, which was quite pigmented overall.

Despite having a very matte finish, as promised, the formula sat well on my lips and did not seem prone to emphasizing lip lines, settling into lip lines, or clumping around texture, which made it a more flattering matte formula to wear. They were transfer-resistant and longer-wearing with many shades lasting over six hours on me. The formula felt lightly hydrating to non-drying overall and were comfortable to wear.

They had a floral scent and very subtle taste at times, though not consistently for me.

The texture felt lightweight, slightly thin and just barely glided on without dragging, but it did allow for more precise application. I noticed that it did not seem as prone as other matte finishes to catching along texture imperfections. It had opaque pigmentation that wore nicely for five hours and felt non-drying while worn.
