Profumum Dambrosia Perfume Review

Profumum Dambrosia Perfume Review

Profumum Roma Dambrosia Eau de Parfum is a love letter to figs from its earlier, greener stages to its jammier, ripened fruit. At times, it was grassy, then milky, almost like coconut, before sweetening, becoming jammier, and sitting on a creamy, almond nuttiness. The sandalwood played a minimal role in the development, even in the drydown. It was primarily a sweet, fruity scent but a lot less syrupy sweet and juicier, like freshly-squeezed fruit freshly picked off the tree.

  • top notes: almond, pear
  • heart notes: fig, grape
  • base notes: sandalwood

It was a medley of fresh, ripened fruit with a zesty backing; dripping pears and juicy grapes. It smelled of fruit blossoms in an orchard with honeycombs buzzing with bees. The fig seemed to give some grassiness and milkiness, almost like coconut, especially paired with the almond came through after 10 minutes of wear. The fig sweetened and became jammier over the next hour and drowned out the grapes, which left behind a duo of pear and fig with creamy nuttiness. Despite being quite sweet, there was still a brightness between the fruits.

Sweet, honeyed fig became the dominant fruit note, with pear acting as support, with a smooth, creamy almond and hint of sandalwood. The drydown was similar with the sandalwood becoming a soft, creamy woody base but it was still primarily honeyed fig.

Application

For testing, I used 1/3 of a 1ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise.

Longevity

It lasted for five hours until it was a skin-scent and about eight hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate with the sillage dropping faster than the projection within the first hour of wear.

Personal Thoughts

I liked that it was sweetness from the fruits rather than from something like vanilla or tonka bean. It felt like a very juicy cocktail of fig, pear, and grape (though mostly fig overall). I don’t know that I’d wear it often enough to justify a bottle, but I’ll for sure use my sample up!

Available Sizes

  • 100ml for $275
  • 18ml for $93 (harder to find size in the US)
  • 0.7ml sample for $6
