MAC What in Carnation, Posh Pit, Not Humble Just Bragging Lustreglass Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

What in Carnation

MAC What in Carnation Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a natural finish. It had medium color coverage, which was as marketed, that applied somewhat evenly, though not badly for this type of color. It had a lightweight, slightly thinner texture that had some slip but never felt slippery on my lips. The color lasted for three hours and felt lightly hydrating, but it was a long way away from the claimed wear time.

This shade may be a UK-exclusive (I purchased mine from , which does ship to the US) and is not currently available at US retailers.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.1 oz. - $220.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "sheer, buildable colour" that is moisturizing, while also being long-wearing with "six hours" of shine and "eight hours" of color.

First and foremost, these have an unexpectedly long long-wearing claim. Eight hours of wear is a feat for any lipstick, let alone one that is sheerer, more luminous, and hydrating. It likely comes as no shock that they did not wear close to eight hours. The wear ranged from three to four hours, which was in line with other, more luminous formulas of similar coverage-level and was a little longer than the average Lustre lipstick in the past (though more consistent with recently released Lustres).

The updated take on the Lustre finish is more emollient, creamier, and has more consistent coverage. It is still a lighter-weight, thinner consistency relative to MAC's other lipsticks and most other lipstick formulas on the market. The colors that were brought back in the new formula were fairly consistent with the prior versions.

Most of the shades applied evenly, didn't seem to catch or emphasize texture imperfections on my lips, and weren't prone to settling into my lip lines. That being said, the current range is heavier on mid-tones, and it is often very light shades that can be the culprits of both.

The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to medium, and most shades were buildable to semi-opaque coverage, though they tended to wear down to more medium coverage within an hour or so of wear. I found that once some of the shine wore down, e.g. if one drank from a glass of water or blotted lightly, the color that remained was more like the initial layer of product.

They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

Posh Pit

MAC Posh Pit Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium, rusty brown with moderate, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had medium color payoff in a single layer, which built up to full coverage with a second layer.

The texture felt smooth, lightweight, and thin with enough slip to apply without tugging. The product applied evenly and comfortably across my lips with even coverage that stayed on nicely for four hours and felt lightly moisturizing.

This shade may be a UK-exclusive (I purchased mine from , which does ship to the US) and is not currently available at US retailers.

Not Humble Just Bragging

MAC Not Humble Just Bragging Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a light-medium pink with cooler undertones and a natural sheen with faint pearl. It had semi-sheer to medium pigmentation, which was somewhat buildable, that applied unevenly and was prone to getting into my lip lines.

The lipstick had a lightly emollient consistency that was thin without feeling clingy, and it applied in a fluid motion for me. It wore for three hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

This shade may be a UK-exclusive (I purchased mine from , which does ship to the US) and is not currently available at US retailers.
