Pat McGrath Fleur Fantasia Celestial Divinity Luxe Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches

Fleur Fantasia

Pat McGrath Fleur Fantasia Celestial Divinity Luxe Eyeshadow Quad ($58.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition quad that featured a pearly peach, pearly lavender, sparkly berry, and matte coral. It is exclusive to the brand’s website.

The two more subdued shimmers felt a little more powdery in comparison to most of the brand’s eyeshadows, which tend to have a creamier, more emollient quality to them, though I didn’t find it had much impact on application. All four shades had rich color payoff, were blendable, and had good longevity, though Iridescent Orchid had light fallout over time.

Huetopia

Huetopia is a medium-dark, yellow-peach base with very fine, subtle pink-to-gold shifting p earl that gave it more of a pearly sheen. The base seemed a little more powdery, which seemed to “eat” some of the shimmer so it wasn’t as metallic as some of the brand’s shimmers can be (but not quite as sheen-like as Skinshow ____ shades).

The texture was lightly powdery in the pan but didn’t give me trouble with fallout or blending when applied to my skin. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for nine hours before fading a bit.

Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are, generally, supposed to be "super-saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme blendability and adherence without creasing." A lot of how well they perform (and to some degree, how they are supposed to be applied and marketed) depends on the type of shades, but by and large, the eyeshadows perform very much as they are described.

The brand released single eyeshadows in March 2019, and the shades have been consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are not removable, unfortunately, so one would have to depot like any other single eyeshadow--I tried using tweezers and lifting on several shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most single eyeshadow compacts in my stash--I wish it really locked in, but there's definitely a magnet that pulls the lid down if it's within 2mm of the base.

The mattes are velvety, blendable, and dense without being thick or too heavy, and they have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little can go a long way with some of the deeper and richer hues. The satin and pearl finishes are smooth, lightly creamy, and firmer but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, blendability, and easy application. The more metallic finishes tend to be softer, creamy, and smooth with a bit more denseness and no powderiness. The sparkly/glittery shades are often designed to be applied wet for richer coverage or intensity, which has largely been my experience. Most of the shades last between eight and nine hours.

Lavender Blue

Lavender Blue is a light-medium, pinky-lavender base with warmer undertones paired with cooler, blue-to-aqua shifting pearl. The finish was more pearlescent when applied–almost glowing but not actually metallic or as shiny.

For the brand, it had a lower level sheen than usually seen (that’s an observation, it’s not a pro nor a con). The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable but lightly powdery in the pan. It had opaque color payoff that lasted nicely for nine hours before showing signs of fading.

Iridescent Orchid

Iridescent Orchid is a brighter, medium berry with warmer undertones and cooler pink and violet sparkle that gave it a shiny, metallic finish with light sparkle. The consistency was slightly drier with the sparkles coming away from the base color a bit, which led to light fallout during application when applied with a dry brush.

It had opaque pigmentation regardless of being applied with a dry brush, wet brush, or fingertip, though the latter two helped to mitigate fallout. It wore well for nine and a half hours but had a touch of fallout over time.

Lotus Paradise

Lotus Paradise is a muted, medium pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and substantial with a touch of powderiness that was present in the pan but didn’t give me trouble with fallout during application.

The eyeshadow had rich color coverage that blended out with ease. The color stayed on well for nine hours before fading visibly.
