Dior Golden Snow Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Golden Snow (549)

Dior Golden Snow (549) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that included five shimmery shades: peach, off-white, yellow gold, olive green, and cool taupe. The five shades coordinated well together, and most of the shades had opaque color coverage and all shades had decent wear. The second shade was sheerer, while the fourth shade was drier and harder to diffuse for a really blown out effect.

We hope you'll consider supporting Temptalia by shopping through our links below. Thanks!

Golden Snow #1

Golden Snow #1 is a medium, orange-leaning peach with strong, warm undertones and a smooth, pearly sheen. It had opaque color coverage applied dry as well as wet, while the texture was smooth, dense, and lightly creamy but not overly thick or too firmly pressed into the pan. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.

There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.

Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Golden Snow #2

Golden Snow #2 is a light, off-white with faint silver and pink pearl throughout. It had more semi-sheer coverage that could be built up to medium when applied with a dry brush or more semi-opaque when applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip. The texture was soft, slightly dusty in the pan, but blendable and had minimal fallout applied (even dry). It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Golden Snow #3

Golden Snow #3 is a light-medium, true yellow gold with moderate, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that diffused well along the edges.

The texture was dense but not overly firm, so it had enough slip and glide to sit well on my lid but still pick up well with a dry brush. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Golden Snow #4

Golden Snow #4 is a darker, olive green with warm undertones and a fine, gold and emerald green pearl throughout that gave it a pearl finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin, but the texture was on the drier side, so it was hard to get a really diffused, blown-out edge.

If you were someone who planned to use it mostly on the lid, I don’t think it would be problematic, but trying to use it in the crease or as a blending shade was where the lack of blendability was more noticeable. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Golden Snow #5

Golden Snow #5 is a deep, purpled-taupe with cool undertones and a satin sheen. It had rich color coverage with a smooth, dense texture that was lightly creamy but not overly thick or too firmly pressed into the pan. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. It lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.
