Clinique Warm Up (2020) Cheek Pop Palette Review & Swatches

Warm Up (2020)

Clinique Warm Up (2020) Cheek Pop Palette ($29.50 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition trio that features three warmer-toned Cheek Pop shades (all from the permanent range) housed in a slim, plastic palette. The quality was consistent with the permanent iterations; they were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with a glowing, luminous finish.

Nude Pop

Nude Pop is a soft peach with moderate, warm orange undertones and a luminous finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly to my cheeks and blended out beautifully with minimal effort. The texture was soft, smooth, and dense without being overly firm in the pan, though a moderately-dense brush is key when working with the gel-powder kind of formula (that this is). The color wore well for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview

$21.00/0.12 oz. - $175.00 Per Ounce

The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” The texture was smooth, soft, and dense, so it was never powdery in the pan or on the skin. The blush had good color payoff that was easily sheered out (or you could apply less, as the denser texture makes that easy to control).

It’s the kind of texture that almost blends itself as soon as you start applying and working it onto the skin. The finish became more luminous as I blended the powder onto the skin, but it was never shiny or overly shimmery, so it always looked smooth on my skin and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s texture. Most shades lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

Ginger Pop (01)

Ginger Pop (01) is a brighter, medium coral with moderate, warm undertones that were just barely orange-leaning but fairly well-balanced between pink and orange. It had a luminous finish that was glowing without being overtly shimmery on my skin. It had opaque pigmentation that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out with ease.

The texture was smooth to the touch, dense but not stiff, and picked up best with a moderately-dense brush. It was easy to control the amount of product picked up, while the powder blended seamlessly on my skin. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Cola Pop

Cola Pop is a rich, deep red with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It became more luminous as it was blended out and worked into my skin. When worn at more semi-sheer to medium coverage, it looked pinky-red. The texture was smooth to the touch, dense without being stiff to work with, though the gel-powder formula requires a denser brush for even pickup of product.

On the upside, there was no powderiness, which made it easier to control how much product was picked up and ensured precision when applying and diffusing the color out on cheeks. This particular iteration seemed to be slightly more yielding and was fully opaque in a single layer. It lasted nicely for nine hours before fading visibly.
