Haus Labs Antique Rose, Empire, Grime Eye-dentify Gel Pencils Reviews & Swatches

Antique Rose

Haus Labs Antique Rose Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, rosy copper base with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold sparkle over a more metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly.

This shade worked better applied in less-overlapping strokes as it was denser, thicker, and slightly drier compared to other shades. I also felt like the sparkles had a tendency to drag some product, which resulted in a less-even layer of product. It wore well for eight hours before fading/thinning was apparent.

Formula Overview

$18.00/0.04 oz. - $450.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "creamy" without tugging and "color-packed" for "all-day, vibrant payoff" (specifically, "12-hour wear"). The full range has 20 shades (at least, at the time of the original release!), and I bought six to try.

All six I tried were pigmented with mostly opaque to opaque coverage in a single stroke. Two of the more shimmery shades were slightly drier in consistency with less glide compared to the more matte shades, though they were not difficult or painful to use on my lower lash line.

The texture was lightly creamy as it went on, but it was quick to set, so those who like to smudge their eyeliner may find this one sets too quickly to do that readily. They were firmer but not the point where they were prone to breaking or painfully tugging on the lash line. I didn't have any issues with the tip snapping off during swatching, and they were not uncomfortable to work with, but they did not glide on as comfortably as other formulas I've tried.

They wore between eight and nine hours before fading/thinning noticeably, so they were decently long-wearing--relative to the field of eyeliner--though they looked significantly worn away by the 12-hour mark.

Empire

Haus Labs Empire Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark teal with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a a lightly creamy consistency that didn’t drag or tug but was very quick to set, so it did not smudge out easily (a good sign for longevity but harder to correct mistakes or soften if desired!). It lasted for eight and a half hours before fading more visibly.

Grime

Haus Labs Grime Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a brighter, medium grass green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single stroke, which was buildable to full coverage with a second layer or when applied in shorter, more overlapping strokes.

The consistency was firmer, denser, and had just a touch of glide to it, so it didn’t tug painfully on my lash line, it wasn’t the creaminess or most comfortable pencil to use. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before thinning noticeably.
