Giorgio Armani Doge (210) Lip Maestro ($38.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a muted, brownish burgundy with strong, warm undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without a fuss.

The texture was lightweight, creamy with some velvety slip, so it spread easily but didn’t feel slippery while worn and stayed in place well without feathering/bleeding during wear. It wore nicely for seven and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview

The consistency has more slip and a velvety-smooth feel that softly “clings” to the lips, so while the finish has a glossier look for the first few hours, the color stays on well. If you’ve ever used a silicone-based primer, there’s a bit of that feel to the formula overall. Most shades last between six and eight hours on me, are non-drying to lightly hydrating, and comfortable to wear. The formula is unscented and has no discernible taste.

The Lip Maestro Notorious formula is supposed to have a “luminous matte” finish with “8 hours of wear” and “high pigment.” The Notorious shades are inspired by “chic Hollywood glamour” but otherwise appear very similar in feel to the original Lip Maestro formula.

Giorgio Armani Mistero (212) Lip Maestro ($38.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich color coverage that spread smoothly and evenly to my lips in a single layer, which made it easy to work with despite being opaque and deeper in hue.

The liquid lipstick had a more velvety finish–like a silicone-primer and lipstick got together and had a baby–that gave it better hold and adhesion while keeping it flexible and comfortable to wear. This shade stayed on well for seven hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time.

It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that was denser without being heavy or thick to work with. The product applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip lines–it seemed to smooth out some of them. It wore well for seven hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.
